
Leadership in Development Certification
Civil Society has become a major force globally and increasingly in developing countries like Pakistan. However, the pace of change and influence of civil society depends a lot on the capacity of civil society organizations and specifically their leaders. In this context, leadership plays a crucial role in organizational development, influence and ultimately the success of civil society actors in achieving social change and social justice.
This program is designed to support individuals in how to lead themselves, their careers, and their organizations and systems changes in a holistic way. The proposed program will be designed to meet the unique opportunities – and challenges – participants experience in the nonprofit sector (INGOs/NGOs).
This program complements in-person training with inspiring speakers, networking event(s), coaching and mentoring.
Hybrid Model:
Total 11 Weeks, 2 classes/week of 3 hours each, total 8 in-person and 15 online sessions. Total Training hours 60 and 1:1 Coaching and Mentoring hours 5 for each participant. The in-person sessions will take place in Islamabad.
Coaching (including Personality Assessment)
- The coaching will start after the first modules
- Each participant will get 5 individual coaching sessions (45 minutes each) via Zoom scheduled between the sessions
- Each participant will do the MBTI assessment
- Lead Trainer/Coach will assist each participant in the interpretation of results via 45 minutes long personalized consultation (over Zoom)
Networking & Closing
- A networking Night (Dinner) will be hosted for all participants and civil society leadership to provide networking opportunities
- The participants will be presented with the certificates
Additional support:
Lead coach will be available for an additional three months to the participant.
Training Fee:
The total fee of the certification is PKR 96,000/- per participant. The fee include sessions pack, handouts, books (2), personality assessment(s), refreshment and certificates.
Organizations with 3 and more participants will receive a discount.

- Understanding your Leadership Style
- Principles of personal vision, personal leadership, personal management

Leadership from the not-for-profit Lens (16 hours)
- Understanding Leadership in the nonprofit paradigm – Values & Ethics as Leader in NGO/INGO world

- How emerging Challenges are reshaping the development landscape and requirements from Leadership
Module Two – Successful and Sustainable Projects/Interventions

- Project Management – Why project fails? Guidelines for successful Projects and your role as leader
- Unwrapping gender in leadership, organization and personal context
- Leadership and winning teams – discussing Blind Spots, Unwrapping Diversity and inclusion
- Conflict Modes and your preference as Leader
- Group Mentoring – First Session
Module Three – Leadership and Financial Management

- Leadership and Financial Management – What Leader needs to know
- Supply Chain as your partner
- Leadership and Fundraising: Developing systematic fundraising strategies and strategies to achieve a stable and diversified funding base. Emerging challenges of fundraising and how to steer your way forward.
Module Four – Leading in Changing Work Cultures
(Total Duration – 9 Hours)
- Leadership and new work patterns (remote management and changing organizational cultures
- Trust building and conflict management in Teams
- Applying understanding of “preferences” in Teams
Module Five – Imagining Future Together

Instructors:
We are a group of diverse individuals who are driven by the passion to create sustainable actions. We support civil society in building their capacities to become more effective and creative in developing their leadership and organization, implementing effective programs, and solving social problems. We come with following credentials:
- Understanding of leadership challenges faced by INGOs/NGOs in Pakistan, we know the work, language, and principles of the civil society
- Our programs are based on promoting “Principle centered leadership”, we facilitate self-awareness through the use of tools like DISC and MBTI (use by fortune 500 companies)

The course is designed and will be co-trained by:
Aftab Alam Khan offers over 20-year experience of leading teams from Asia, Africa, Latin America, Europe and USA. He has served over 35 countries and worked with nearly 100 nationalities. Mr. Khan has managed multi-continental and multi-million dollars projects and developed strategies for various countries. He has advised governments of Pakistan, Indonesia, South Africa, G-20, G-77 for pro-poor policies in the World Trade Organization (WTO) and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. Mr. Khan has trained over 4000 university professors, govt officers, NGO staff, and journalists on leadership, problem analysis, program development, advocacy, food security and climate change. Aftab Alam Khan is a Chevening Scholar with Master’s in Development Management from University of Wales Swansea, United Kingdom.
Momina Dar
Momina draws from over a decade of experience of working with the development and humanitarian sector in senior management positions and has studied disciplines of self-awareness, human behavior, leadership, success, organization development, and spirituality. Momina dreams of bringing principle-centered leadership to the world to unleash hidden potential. Momina have trained over 100 leaders based on the principles of character ethics. Momina holds international certification in personality profiling from AMA, USA, trained in ICF Coaching standards from United Kingdom, and is trained on CISM.
